and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, Brixton Wings has played a pivotal role in Maria’s personal and academic growth.

This case study aims to explore Maria’s exceptional journey, highlighting the range of services she utilized, including after-school support, Saturday school, music lessons, and rowing programs. Through the unwavering support of Brixton Wings, Maria has overcome numerous challenges and triumphed in her pursuit of higher education.

Growing up in the Stockwell, Maria faced limited opportunities and barriers to affordable and accessible education and extracurricular activities. However, Brixton Wings recognized the potential within Maria and provided a nurturing environment where she could thrive. By offering comprehensive after-school programs

and a wide array of educational initiatives, Brixton Wings ensured that Maria received the support she needed to excel academically and discover her passions.

One of the pivotal services provided by Brixton Wings was its after-school and Saturday school programs. Maria actively engaged in these programs, which were dedicated to helping children achieve the best possible grades in English and Maths. Through personalized and tailored one-on-one tutoring, Maria received support in key subjects from primary to GCSE level. The programs covered essential areas such as grammar, reading, spelling, comprehension, phonemic awareness, and written expression. By enabling Maria to progress at her own pace

and focusing on her individual needs, Brixton Wings empowered her to build a solid academic foundation.
