OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT
OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Brixton Wings is a Lambeth hub supporting community initiatives and grassroots activities. From music sessions to local art showcases, our centre fosters creativity, connection, and empowerment. We support early childhood development, tackle food insecurity, and provide educational programs to uplift the community.
AT Collective Unit 5 Pilot Workshop
On 11 March the Angell Town Collective ran the first Silverworks workshop, bringing together Angell Town residents, the More Mature Group, and Lambeth Council.
The day started at the Angell Town Enterprise Centre, where people saw Unit 5, the future Silverworks space, for the first time. When the unit wasn't ready, Brixton Wings kindly hosted a relaxed stitching session with Stitch School. Participants got creative, shared ideas, and discussed hopes for the space.
Conversations were warm and enthusiastic. Residents said they want a welcoming place to meet, shared creative activities, and a space where everyone feels at home.
It was a brilliant start and this is just the beginning. Read the write-up here
Start and Restart Workshop:
Supporting Small Charities to Move Forward
Brixton Wing began the Start and Restart Workshop to support small charities and community groups. Fifteen organisations met in an informal, inclusive session to share ideas, build confidence, and plan next steps. Facilitators Eoin and Martyn from Integrate gave practical funding advice for start-ups and a clear, balanced look at AI’s benefits and risks, helping attendees gain focus, improve their plans, and connect with peers.

Hosted at Brixton Wings, Bridging The Gap brought together the evocative works of local artist Lil Sullivan and photographer Christopher iCha. This dual ‘Brixhibition’ explored the vibrant, evolving nature of Brixton, a place the artists have called home for decades. Through their unique perspectives, the exhibition framed the “ever-changing multi-dynamic throng” of this iconic neighbourhood, capturing its energy, challenges, and resilience.
Brixton Wings, a lively community hub at the heart of Lambeth, provided the perfect setting for this thought-provoking showcase. Known for supporting grassroots initiatives and fostering creativity, the centre empowers the local community through programs addressing food security, education, and the arts. Bridging The Gap exemplifies this mission, celebrating Brixton’s cultural richness and the stories of its people.

Brixton Wings x First 5 Lambeth:
Empowering Young Families Together
Brixton Wings has partnered with First 5 Lambeth to strengthen community ties and enhance family development. This collaboration combines Brixton Wings’ expertise in youth engagement with First 5 Lambeth’s focus on supporting families with children aged 0–5. Together, we design inclusive programs that encourage early childhood development, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
Our partnership offers tailored workshops, family-friendly activities, and essential resources for parents, carers, and children. By breaking barriers and championing diversity, we ensure families in Lambeth thrive and connect in meaningful ways.
In partnership with the Felix Project and Lambeth Healthy Living Platform, Brixton Wings hosts the Thursday Food Hub a vital resource for families and elderly carers in the Angell Town estate. This initiative provides essential food support to local families involved in our After School activities and extends care to elderly grandparents raising grandchildren and isolated households.
The Food Hub addresses food insecurity while fostering a sense of community, ensuring no one feels left behind. By working together, we create meaningful and sustainable support systems, building a healthier and more connected Lambeth.

Saturday School Learning And Development Sessions
Our Saturday School offers a unique opportunity for students to enhance their skills in Maths, English, Science, and Geography. Through engaging lessons, students learn to tackle challenging problems, understand mathematical concepts, and explore the world around them.
The program also features a Chess Club, where students and teachers play competitive games, boosting confidence and cultivating a love for strategy and learning.
We are very grateful to be one of the recipients of the Asda Foundation grants. These grants will greatly help support and sustain our programs in the community during these challenging times, allowing us to continue making a positive impact.
