After-School & Early Intervention programs for a brighter future.
Parent led community grassroots organisation
Welcome to Brixton Wings!
Brixton Wings is a charity that helps children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. We offer after-school programs and early intervention initiatives. Our goal is to provide affordable and accessible training and learning opportunities for young people who may not have other options in their community.
Music and Saturday School
Support from our funders allows us to continue with our after-School group keyboard/piano, guitar and band workshop lessons, in which we provide an engaging and caring atmosphere for individual and group development pathways, for structured and improvised musical learning and playing.
From beginners to advanced classes, participants are taught and encouraged to read musical notation and play to exam board standard, including the opportunity to work towards and take ABRSM exams from grade 1 to grade 8.
Ages 9 - 16
Rowing & Holidays Activities Program
Our weekly indoor rowing sessions are run in collaboration with London Youth Rowing (LYR), in which we participate as hub members as part of their School and club rowing development programmes.
Our LYR rowing coach guides young people through core strength building, from warm up to individual personal best (PB) to season target setting. Indoor sessions are often taken outdoors, weather permitting, when we run our unique Brixton Wings ‘pavement rowing’, outside our Brixton Wings centre in Angel Town. Here, we encourage local young people to try out rowing on our Concept2 ergo machines for individual or relay races.

Support for Communities
The Brixton Wings Youth centre helps the community by offering spaces for local musicians, actors, and creatives to practice. The centre also displays artwork from local artists. We are part of a network that provides healthy food to the community every Thursday. We are working on coding programs for younger participants after school and on Saturdays.
