Brixton Wings' Saturday School

Our Saturday School, generously sponsored by the National Grid, is a cornerstone of our early intervention efforts, offering a range of classes designed to nurture key competencies in maths, science, language, and critical thinking.

Led by the dedicated Keith Turner, a retired Maths teacher with a passion for education, our Saturday School provides young learners with a solid foundation in core subjects such as maths and science. Keith's wealth of experience and expertise ensures that students receive high-quality instruction tailored to their individual needs, setting them on the path to academic excellence.

In addition to academic subjects, our Saturday School also features a chess club, led by twins Chris and Joe FitzPatrick. Both graduates of Aeronautical engineering and avid chess players, Chris and Joe bring a unique blend of intellectual rigor and strategic thinking to their coaching sessions. Through the game of chess, students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to think ahead and anticipate outcomes – skills that are invaluable both inside and outside the classroom.

But our commitment to fostering essential skills doesn't end on Saturdays. Thanks to the support of the National Grid, we are able to offer Tuesday after-school coding classes, led by Electech Labs founder Nathan Asiedu-Tabi. Nathan's expertise in coding and technology provides young people with the opportunity to explore the exciting world of computer science, learning valuable skills in problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity.

Through these sessions, young people at Brixton Wings are not only gaining academic knowledge but also developing essential life skills that will serve them well in the future. From mathematical reasoning to critical analysis, from strategic planning to creative problem-solving, our programs equip students with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence and competence.

We are immensely grateful for the dedication and commitment of our teachers and instructors, whose tireless efforts make our Saturday and after-school programs possible. Their passion for education and unwavering support for our young people are truly inspiring, and we are honored to have them as part of the Brixton Wings family.

In conclusion, Brixton Wings' Saturday and after-school programs play a vital role in equipping young people with the essential skills they need to succeed in school, work, and life. Through academic instruction, chess coaching, and coding classes, we are empowering the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators to reach their full potential.
