Celebrating Duvar's Achievement at Lambeth Sports Awards

We are proud to share that Duvar, a dedicated member of the Brixton Wings Indoor Rowing Team, was honoured with the Individual Award for Achievement at Lambeth’s Sports Awards, held at Surrey Cricket Grounds. This award recognised his incredible performance at the London Youth Games (LYG), where Duvar won gold in indoor rowing this year, after securing silver last year.

Duvar's commitment to the sport, his perseverance, and his drive have been truly inspiring. His journey from silver to gold reflects not only his growth as an athlete but also his determination, making him a role model for many young people in our community.

In his own words, Duvar described the importance of Brixton Wings in his life:

"Brixton Wings is my place of solace. Coming to BW has been rewarding in terms of my safety, being proactive in sport, music, and my personal development. I am supported in many ways, especially by staff, in a friendly, educative environment for young people. I must take time to thank my coach, Aunt Medg. You helped shape me into the person I am today. I recommend BW to the wider community as a place to grow and find your full potential."

The Brixton Wings Indoor Rowing Team was also invited to Lambeth Council’s ‘Sporting Local Stars’ event at the Oval Cricket Ground, where local athletes were celebrated for their achievements. Duvar was recognized with a special award for his success, marking a proud moment for our entire team.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to London Youth Rowing and Active Lambeth, whose support for the indoor rowing program has been invaluable. Their dedication to providing opportunities in sports has helped young athletes like Duvar thrive and develop both their skills and confidence.
